Muscle-Related Headaches
Reducing muscle-related headaches
Some headaches are associated with excessive or persistent muscle tension in areas such as the forehead or neck. When these muscles remain overactive, they may contribute to pressure, discomfort or recurring headaches.
Procedure
Benefits & results
Treatment may be considered when overactive muscles are thought to contribute to the headache pattern. By selectively relaxing these muscles, muscle tension can be reduced.
The effect varies from person to person, so a medical assessment is important to determine whether the symptoms are likely to be muscle-related and whether treatment is appropriate.
During the assessment, the doctor reviews the headache pattern and identifies areas of excessive muscle tension in the forehead or neck.
If treatment is suitable, small amounts of product are administered into selected muscles to reduce excessive activity while maintaining normal movement and function.
